I am blessed to live in a city with a good library. Not only do they have a fabulous children's section, but they always have lots of "new arrival" books that peak my curiosity. My habit of going to library started young. Today when I go, I almost always come home with more books than I could read before the due date, but I love having a lot of books on hand.
Last night I started reading a Labor of Love: A Midwife Memoirby Cara Muhlhahn. I had a doula with both my births and I find the profession of midwifery and doula fascinating. I believe there is a calling to such a vocation, because similar to being a deaconess or perhaps a pastor it is vocation that requires a lot of self-giving without a lot of material rewards. Not to mention the hours are not convenient.
The library had two different midwife memoirs and I am thinking after I read this one I might have to return for the other.
CPH is offering 30% off preorders of the new book, Treasury of Daily Prayer. Find out what all the hype is about by taking a look at the online version. The hype is good, because this book helps the practice of daily prayer become a much easier endeavor. There is no need to flip back and forth through your Bible looking for verses - not a bad thing - but is nice to have all daily readings, prayers, and extra writings in order.
