ELCA Task Force and gay-clergy policy.  Read the Chicago Tribune article here.  The article states near the end the decision made in August by the ELCA could have a rippling effect across Lutheran churches.

Trademark Dispute Between Issues, Etc. and LC-MS

Oh the drama that is life and the church.  The radio show Issues, Etc. is now having to fight for their trademark name.  It is being reported the LC-MS let ownership of the trademark name expire in 1999, and are now spending money trying to win it back.

From my brief overview of the situation, I believe Issue, Etc. is in the right and the LC-MS should just let it go and save everyone a lot unneeded stress.

Hi!  This is me.  The blogging world is ever changing.  For awhile now, I have tried to keep up this blog and my other blog.  I tried and did not succeed the way I hoped.

I am happy to announce that The Lutheran Review is going personal.  A little.  And, what is more personal than showing my face.

C.O.R.E. Alliance

Remember a few weeks back when Hurricane Ike slammed into the Texas region?  The effects are still being felt and help is still needed.

C.O.R.E stands for Christians Organized for Relief Efforts.  The group was initially started by two churches, but soon discovered that a greater impact in aid could be made by a group of churches working together.  Help is needed.

A New Order

Tipped off by Necessary Roughness, a group blog titled, Four and Twenty Blackbirds, is in discussion regarding a new set of canons as part of a Rule with the LC-MS. 

We, the undersigned member congregations and pastors of the Missouri Synod, distressed at the confusing state of churchly life among us, hereby pledge to conduct our ministries within the Missouri Synod under the following Evangelical Rule and Church Order. We do not pine for Rome, Constantinople, or the America of neo-Evangelicalism. We seek to be authentically Lutheran and show as much to the world through a unified practice of our common doctrine. Grandparent's Day

My parents are grandparents to six grandchildren.  I am sure there was a point in their lives when the thought of being grandparents was the farthest thought from their minds.  But, as the days passed by, eventually those grandchildren came along and provided endless joy.  My father is by all accounts an old Lutheran, and in celebration of all that is old and Lutheran, today we feature the website Old Lutheran.  The website features recipes, oldest Lutheran of the week, tidbits of the day, and a plethora of gifts.
